Her expression drops. Her eyes dart around, and she’s quiet for a long moment, as if trying to think of how to reply.

She clears her throat.
“I’m familiar with you, in- in a sense… I took it on myself to do a background check. You’re the only person who actually took the job, so Ace didn’t think to, they were so excited.”
“Nosiness is exactly what they want, so that’s… That’s not the problem. The issue is just…”
She trails off again.
“There’s things about you that may skew their results, is all.”
“But, you’ve been fine. You shouldn’t worry about that. I thought we were trying to avoid talking about work.”
